iPhone 3G, When Capability Meets Style
Success with the first iPhone, Apple Inc is now hit the market with a latest version of a hi-tech phone: iPhone 3G. Officially released on July 11 2008, now iPhone 3G is ready for Indonesian market. With its 3G feature, iPhone provide its user with faster 3G data speeds and assisted GPS.
Talking about this sleek-designed gadget, iPhone 3G is completely made from a hard plastic material to increase GSM signal strength, different from its previous version which made of alumunium and plastic. To complete the elegant image of Apple Inc products, iPhone is designed with no physical keyboard. Instead, it’s featured with a 9 cm touch screen of a liquid crystal display (320×480 pixel at 6.3 px/mm, 160ppi, HVGA) complete with scratch-resistant glass and canrender 262,144 colors. The screen itself is sensitive not only to a bare finger but also to a multiple fingers for a multi-touch sensing.
This phone display can respond to three kinds of sensors. When user is about to receive a call and bring the phone near to his face, a proximity sensor will deactives the display and touch screen in order to save battery power and to prevent inadvertent inputs from the user’s face and ear. The next sensor, the ambient light sensor, works to adjust the display brightness to save battery power. And the last one is the 3-Axis accelerometer which can sense the orientation of the phone. This sensor helps user to switch the display orientation from landscape to portrait and vice versa just by turning the phone. This feature is most useful when you about to see pictures, enjoy music, browse some webs, or play favorite game.
iPhone 3G is equipped with double speaker on the back left of the phone. And furthermore, iPhone is compatible with any normal headset. But unfortunately, iPhone doesn’t support voice recording. Third party software is needed if you want this feature to be available in your iPhone. iPhone is available with two options for internal storage: 8 GB and 16 GB. No memory card slot is available, so that you can’t upgrade the memory storage on your phone.
Just like other Apple product iPod Touch, iPhone using iPhone OS as the operating system. One outstanding feature of the phone is the fast internet connectivity. Internet acces is available through a local area Wi-Fi or a wide range GSM or EDGE network. iPhone 3G also supports third generation UMTS and HDSPA 3.6. The iPhone 3G has a maximum download rate up to 1.4 Mbps.
For a businessman, iPhone is such a perfect solution. iPhone has an email program that supports HTML email allowing user to attach photo in the mail. Other basic office program like PDF, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint attachment can be viewed directly through the phone. This phone also provides users with what its competitor, Blackberry, has: push mail.
iPhone is packed along with a built in 2.0 megapixel camera. But unfortunately neither optical zoom flash, nor autofocus is included. Too bad that this phone is not support video recording. But however, this iPhone is still a perfect choice for those who look for sleek-designed hi-tech phone.
